Training

Diagnostic Ultrasound has taken their customer support and committment to the next level through the NHS Knowledge & Skills Framework (NHS KSF).  KSF is going to affect 1.2 million people who work in the NHS and completion is planned for the end of 2005.

The NHS KSF is one of the 3 key strands within Agenda For Change (AfC), these are;

1) The NHS KSF and its associated development review process form the basis of the career and pay progession strand, which is all about the NHS investing in the future

2) Job Evaluation so that all roles are on equal pay based on legislation regarding to 'equal pay for work of equal value'

3) Terms and Conditions harmonisation

The NHS KSF defines and describes knowledge and skills which NHS staff need to apply to their work in order to deliver quality services.  It provides a single, consistent, comprehensive and explicit framework on which to base review and development for all staff.  The KSF is designed to apply to all staff that come under AfC.  AfC does not affect doctors, dentists, some board level and other senior managers, there are seperate arrangements for their development review.

The purpose of the NHS KSF is to facilitate the development of services so that they better meet the needs of users and the public through investing in the development of all members of staff.  Based on the principles of good people management, the KSF will support the effective learning and development of individuals and teams.  All members of staff are supported to learn throughout their careers and develop in a variety of ways with the resources to do so.  The NHS KSF is also designed to support the development of individuals in the post in which they are employed so they can be effective at work.  This is where Diagnostic Ultrasound can assist you.  Our in-house company unique training package is mapped to KSF guidelines and requirements, we have done the hard work for you!

The NHS KSF is Law, not Government lead.  An NHS post holder will need to gather evidence of how they have applied knowledge and skills (K&S) in their job.  Examples of eveidence will need to be shown for the dimensions and levels in the post holder's outline.  Evidence has to be valid, sufficient, current, reliable and authentic.  For KSF there are 5 types of evidence;

1) Reflective Practice

2) Feedback from others

3) Competency Frameworks

4) Relevant paperwork

5) Observation
